A Better Day is Coming!

Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

This passage of Scripture is one of my wife’s favorite verses.  It has been a source of encouragement to her and myself through the years.  The truth is, that life here on earth can be pretty hard.  Lots of tears, pain and heartache enter into most of our lives from time to time.  Not to say that we don’t have any good times, because if we are honest, our life on earth is pretty good.

God’s Word is designed to encourage in our times of trial and pain.  This verse is a reminder to those that have trusted Christ, that there is a better day coming!!  When we have been born into God’s family, by asking God to forgive our sins, accepting that Jesus has paid for our sins and that He is the only way to heaven, the future is very bright!  Heaven is more that a dream that we desire to attain, it is a promise for the redeemed.

Trials will come and go, some stay for a while, but heaven is forever.  As we trudge through our difficult times, don’t forget that, no matter what we are going through here on earth, our pain and sorrow will one day be exchanged to eternity.  In heaven there is no sorrow, no pain, no heartache, no sickness and no more death.  There will be doctors in heaven, but they won’t be practicing medicine, there will be undertakers in heaven, but they will no longer need to practice there craft.  There will be a reunion with friends and loved ones in Christ that have gone before us.  However, the greatest part of being in heaven is that we will see Jesus face to face.  We will finally see the one that suffered and died for our sins and made it possible for us to enjoy eternity!!

I know that as we suffer through trials here on earth it is difficult to gain a heavenly perspective.  But, let Romans 8:18 sink in as we try to worship though the veil of tears.  In our heartache cry out to the Lord the words of John in Revelation 22:20 “…Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”  A better day is coming!!
