2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
Life has a way of beating us up at times. Trials, heartache, problems…life happens to us at a very rapid pace. There are days that we can’t wait to just get home and relax, only to open the mail, or listen to the answering machine, for those of us that still have a land line, to just get hit again. We have bad days and just want to have a time of comfort.
The Word of God tells us that, the God of the Bible is ready and able to comfort us in “all our tribulation.” God is at the ready to give us the comfort we need at a moment’s notice. The problem is we chose to live in our circumstances, try to “fix” our problems without going to the Lord for comfort. The Holy Spirit that indwells us as believers is called “the Comforter” by the Lord Jesus Himself. The ability to be comforted while dealing with our trials is within us, in the Spirit of God. We just need to avail ourselves to Him.
God never discounts our problems, nor our pain. He does however, promise to bring us comfort in the midst of our problems. Jesus offers peace as we navigate our problems, not as the world gives peace, but as Paul says in Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
As “life happens” today, look to the God of all comfort to give you peace and comfort through whatever comes your way.
