Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Living with a sense of peace is a wonderful place to be. In the world we live in today it seems there is no peace, people are at odds against one another, discussions devolve into shouting matches, people are always trying to talk over each other. I mean, there is always something to be upset about. The Bible tells us that there is a place of peace, internal peace, in the mind of those that have their focus on the Lord.
The peace that the Lord gives us is a perfect peace. It is not the absence of problems, nor the lack of conflict, but it is that peace that only comes from the Lord. It is a peace of heart. It is a sense of contentment with Him. The knowledge that He is enough, that everything is under control and there is no need to spend our time worrying or fretting.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This is a companion passage with that of Isaiah 26:3, both verses speak of a peace that seems unknown to most people. I believe it is because most of us live with a lack of trust in the Lord. We see circumstances that are beyond our control and get anxious over what may happen. We forget to simply trust in the Lord, which leads us to fear and a lack of faith.
Trusting the Lord through our circumstances bring us that perfect peace, a complete peace of heart. Many times we seek to change our situation, when God just wants us to keep our minds focused on Him and trust His ways.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
While the world seeks for a peace that is an absence of conflict, let us enjoy the peace that we can have in spite of the conflict. The peace Jesus came to give!
