Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
Being content in our lives is a wonderful attitude to possess. It is a place of satisfaction, a place of comfort with where we are at a particular time in life. Many of us move in and out of that place of contentment depending on our circumstances. The Apostle Paul wrote the letter to the church in Philippi while spending time in a prison in Rome. He said that he had come to the place in life where he could be content in any situation in his life!! He had to learn to be contented in many hash circumstances throughout his ministry.
Philippians 4:12-13 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Paul found the key yo contentment was, and still is, Christ and the strength that He gives. Although Paul was isolated often, He was never alone. He was able to fellowship with the Lord no matter where he was. His contentment was in his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Friend, believers in Jesus Christ possess the key to contentment in our Savior. Our situations change often throughout our lifetime, sometimes even on a daily basis. We too can have a life of satisfaction if we would rest, trust and fellowship with Christ consistently. Our problem with a lack of contentment, many times, is a lack of an ongoing relationship with the Lord. He is our strength, we can do all things through Him.
When the world is falling apart we, many times, blame the Lord and wonder why He isn’t keeping us from our trials. What we should be doing is going to the Lord in prayer and asking Him to give us the strength to deal with our circumstances. That is when we will learn to be content, come what may.
In spite of your circumstances today or tomorrow, chose to be content rather than being frustrated by our situation. It may take awhile but, we can learn to be content no matter what state we are in.
