Committed to Commitment

God blesses faithfulness.  When we talk about having a consistent walk with God, we need to have ourselves in a position, daily, to walk with Him and experience His blessings.

Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

Faithfulness to any work or deed will usually reap a desired result; faithfulness to exercise will eventually improve your health.  So too will being faithful in spiritual areas of our lives.

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Doing the things required to have a walk with the Lord will reap the benefits of that walk.  The blessings of God on your life, your prayers being answered, seeing the hand of God move in miraculous ways, are all rewards of being committed to the walk with God.

I want to challenge you today to be faithful to the actions that will produce a walk with God.

  •  Committed to Church – Be part of something bigger than yourself.  Get involved, don’t be a spectator.  Open yourself up to others and WORSHIP God in spirit and in truth.
  • Committed to the Word of God – Get into the Bible.  Get passed the interested and get committed to reading the Bible daily.  Don’t just get your spiritual food in church.  Study, learn, obey and see the Word of God change your life.
  • Committed to Communion – PRAY! Make prayer a regular part of your life.  Don’t get sidetracked by life.  You won’t see God move if your not asking Him to do anything.
  • Committed to Right Relationships – People will know you by the friends you keep.  Intentionally have people in your life that will make you better, and be a person that will build up others.  Stay in right relationship with your family!  Stay right with your spouse and children.  Be willing to say, “I’m sorry.”

I know that these may seem to be the most basic of principles to keep as a Christian, but they are what is required to walk with God.  Many Christians miss out on what they want from the Lord, because they are only interested in walking with Him.  Being faithful in the things that will help you walk with God, will give you a walk with God.  Commit to your commitments and you won’t regret it.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
