If we are wise, when trials come into our lives, we will turn to the Bible as a source of strength and encouragement. I know personally I have gained wonderful insights and help from the Bible through many of my own trials. The book of Job has been particularly helpful to me down through the years.
As we go through our difficulties and study the Word of God, we learn that God is faithful and that we can trust His ways, as opposed to our own.
David was a man that had a proper perspective on the Scriptures and the comfort they bring in the midst of difficult circumstances.
Psalm 119:50 This is my comfort in my affliction:for thy word hath quickened me.
Psalm 119:67 Before I was afflicted I went astray:but now have I kept thy word.
Psalm 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted;that I might learn thy statutes.
There is a big difference between, knowing the Word of God and living it out on an every day basis. Learning about faith is quite different than living by faith. It is trough our trials that our faith is put to the test, that is when we learn that the God of the Bible is real, and that what He did for those who lived in Bible times, He can still do today.
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
We may not see our loved ones raised from the dead, however we can experience the comfort of the Scriptures, and go through our trials with hope. Whatever you circumstances today, go to the Word of God and learn that God can be trusted in the midst of your difficulties.
